It wasn't always polished - but it's been real from day one.
Where It Started
Back in '08, Sarah Frosthal hung up her shingle with nothing but a used desk and way too much coffee. The economy was tanking, but folks still needed someone who'd actually listen when they talked about dividing up the family cabin or making sure their kids were taken care of. Started small - real small - in a shared office space on Granville.
Expanding the Team
Word got around, I guess. We'd been doing enough estate work and property deals that it made sense to bring on Marcus Chen - property law's kinda his thing. Moved into proper digs on West Hastings. Still felt weird having a receptionist answer the phone instead of grabbing it ourselves between client meetings. Started focusing more on elder law stuff too, 'cause Vancouver's aging population needed advocates who got it.
Still Learning
We're not gonna pretend we've got it all figured out. But we've handled hundreds of estates, sorted through complicated property disputes, and helped families navigate some pretty tough situations. Added Jennifer Kowalski to focus on trust admin and probate work. These days we've got a solid team, but honestly? We still treat every client like they're the only one we're working with that week.
No corporate headshots or stiff bios here - just real folks who happen to know property and estate law.
Founding Partner - Estate Planning & Elder Law
Been practicing since 2005, and honestly, estate planning wasn't even on my radar back in law school. Figured I'd do something flashier. But after helping my own grandmother navigate capacity issues and watching how messy things got, it clicked. This stuff matters - really matters - to regular people trying to protect their families.
Called to the BC Bar in 2005. Spent a few years at a mid-size firm doing general practice before realizing that wills and estates was where I wanted to plant roots. Started Frosthal Chronicle in 2008 because I wanted to do things differently - less stuffy, more human.
Outside the office? I'm usually hiking the North Shore trails or trying (and often failing) to keep my garden alive. Love a good mystery novel and way too much sourdough bread.
Education: UBC Law, Called to Bar 2005
Partner - Property Law & Real Estate Transactions
Joined Sarah in 2015 after spending way too long at firms where billable hours mattered more than actual client outcomes. Property law's fascinating when you realize every transaction's got a story - families upgrading, downsizing, dealing with inheritance properties that've been in the family for generations.
Called to the BC Bar in 2010. Did my time in big firm real estate departments, handled some massive commercial deals, but kept finding myself more interested in the residential side - helping actual people navigate probably the biggest financial decision they'll make.
Property disputes are where things get interesting. Neighbor feuds, boundary issues, easement problems - it's amazing what people will argue about, but it's my job to find practical solutions that don't end up in court if we can help it.
When I'm not buried in title searches, I'm probably coaching my kid's soccer team or attempting to golf (emphasis on "attempting").
Education: Queen's Law, Called to Bar 2010
Associate - Trust Administration & Probate
Newest member of the team as of 2022, though I'd been doing estate litigation for years before that. Realized pretty quick that helping executors and trustees do their jobs right - avoiding disputes before they start - was way more satisfying than fighting about it later in court.
Called to the BC Bar in 2016. Started out thinking I wanted to be a courtroom lawyer, did estate litigation for a boutique firm. Won some, lost some, but mostly just saw families tear themselves apart over stuff that could've been prevented with better planning and administration.
Probate's not glamorous work - there's paperwork, deadlines, dealing with CRA, tracking down assets - but somebody's gotta do it right. I've got a knack for keeping things organized and making sure executors don't accidentally screw something up that'll come back to bite them.
Off the clock, I'm usually at a pottery class (terrible at it but it's therapeutic) or trying new restaurants around Vancouver. Always up for recommendations.

Look, we're not gonna claim we're revolutionizing the legal industry or whatever. We just show up, do solid work, and treat people like humans instead of file numbers. Estate planning and property law can get complicated, but explaining it doesn't have to be. We'll walk you through what you need to know, what your options are, and what makes sense for your situation - not just what's in the textbook.
